Women in Austria can have a termination of pregnancy up to 63 days after the start of their last menstrual period without further ado.

Contra-indications

There are no known contraindications for Mifegyne. It is important to check for allergies to prostaglandin before using prostaglandin. Precautions should be taken in women with severe bronchial asthma, ischaemic disease, hypertension and renal failure. An ectopic pregnancy is a clear contraindication for medical abortion.

  • If the pregnancy has progressed beyond 63 days (from the first day of the last menstrual period).
  • If there is a concrete suspicion of a pregnancy outside the uterus (e.g. tubal pregnancy)
  • If there is an intolerance to prostaglandins.
  • If you are allergic to the active ingredient mifepristone or other components of Mifegyne®.
  • Adrenal insufficiency
  • Bronchial asthma
  • Porphyria
